8:55 PM Guitarist Speaks: John Hecker, guitarist for Common Stock, has a short cameo in the Reveille newspaper today. In the article, John voices his concerns about the tragic events in New York and the need for diversity in mourning ceremonies around Baton Rouge. The article excerpt is reprinted below: John Hecker, a physics and math senior, said seeing a diverse crowd at Friday's ceremony would ease some of the racial tension students may have. "I want to see an equal gathering of Americans and immigrants, not a typical Reveille shot of white people gathering and praying," Hecker said. "It should be something more important. God Bless America! |

5:01 PM Band Update: We are receiving countless inquiries about the next Common Stock performance, so here is an update to hopefully quench your thirst for now: Common Stock was holding private practices the last few weeks to prepare for studio recording time. Due to scheduling difficulties that session has been moved back to a later date, and the band may resume their normal performance schedule soon. Also, we understand that the band has some new songs in the works such as "Country Boy in Cuba." Be on the lookout! Lastly, the addition of new songs will provide material for an official new album from the band. Hang on to your personal copies of Four Legged Stool-EP. They will soon be out of print. The title for the new album has not yet been decided, although the working name is "The Six Year Plan." |

9:35 PM AMERICA ATTACKED!: From all of our hearts at Stockhome to yours, we send our condolences to all those affected directly by the tragic events today. We cannot even begin to express our sorrow, and we hope that everyone will find their way safely physically, spiritually, and emotionally through this tough time. Those of us here do believe in a loving God who cares deeply about each and every one of us, and we know we are not alone in this time of need. |
08/19/2001 10:55 PM New Airplay (KLSU): This morning Common Stock received airplay of Prisoner 181 in Baton Rouge Louisiana from KSLU, 91.1 FM. The Louisiana State University station introduced the band with an "up-and-coming" label. If you live in the BR area keep it tuned to KLSU, and put in a few requests (225-578-5578) for your favorite CS tunes. |
08/22/2001 4:26 PM Starlight (Gonzales) Directions: Again, we are sure everyone will be arriving from different directions, so here are two separate sets. From I-10: Take Gonzales exit (the Tanger Mall outlet exit) heading east, away from Tanger Outlet. Follow this and take a left onto BURNSIDE, you will have just passed Cactus Cafe. Once on Burnside, travel for close to a mile and it will be the yellow building on your right. If you get to the High School you have gone too far. |
From Airline Highway: Travel south on Airline Highway until you reach Gonzales, LA. Take a right onto Burnside (Albertsons will be on the Corner). Follow Burnside past the High School, and it will be the a yellow building on the left hand side of the road. |
08/21/2001 5:29 PM Directions to Wednesday's Performance: Tomorrow evening, 8-9pm, Common Stock will be playing at the Elmwood Starbucks in New Orleans. We know everyone is coming from a variety of directions, but the easiest way to describe a good route is coming from I-10 south. On interstate 10, take the CLEARVIEW exit and head SOUTH. Continue on Clearview until you see a Home Depot. Be looking for CITRUS St and hang a RIGHT. Starbucks will be on the right hand side of the road once you're on Citrus. (If you get to Guitar Center, you've too far.) Happy trails. Directions will be on the added

08/7/2001 2:16 PM Chelsea's Review: After getting straight a booking error, Common Stock performed with several other artists at Chelsea's cafe last night. Our apologies go out to everyone there since the set had to be scaled down to only 25 minutes. It appeared that everyone did not let that damper the night too much. After the show, we spoke with Mike from the band who wanted us to tell you that the crowd interaction , specifically the singing along, was very cool and pumped up the show. |
08/4/2001 1:10 PM Chelsea's, and 18 and older show: The Common Stock performance Monday night, Aug 6 at Chelsea's will be an 18 and up show. You will have to be 21 to get anything from the bar, of course, but at least more people can get in to see the show. |
08/2/2001 11:55 PM Word of thanks from the band : On behalf of the other band members, I want to thank everyone who made it out to the show tonight. We had a blast, and we hoped you enjoyed it as much. From our hearts out to yours, thanks so much for the support. You guys make it fun! DLawn, Common Stock |
08/2/2001 9:31 PM Performance Review Aug 2 : Common Stock successfully completed their preview show this evening to a standing room only crowd. Gauging from the immediate responses given to the Stockhome staff, the new material went over with flying colors. FYI: If you were lucky enough to garner one of the CD's, take note that the band added an additional 5 tracks of live stuff as a bonus. Also, the band will be armed with another printing of the CD's Monday night, so make sure and get yours early if you missed out. |
